Field / Mission: Tohono O’odham Nation, World Gospel Mission

Hometown: Born and raised in Carroll County, raised in the Keymar church, graduate of Francis Scott Key High School.

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14 NKJV)

Family / testimony
I’ve been blessed to be surrounded by church and family members who have invested in my life and nurtured me in a relationship with Christ. At the age of 10, I received Jesus as my Savior at a Billy Graham crusade where I first understood my personal need for Jesus. At the age of 13, I began attending summer youth camps, which had a significant impact in my life. The will of God became the greatest longing of my heart. The Lord later taught me that His will for my life is a relationship with Him in which I love Him with all my heart, soul, and mind.

How did you end up where you are?
I went on a first mission trip while I was in college. This experience was life-changing and brought a great desire for

further missions. I went on various short-term mission trips after that and always sensed the Lord’s leading to live in my hometown and be part of His mission there. In 2007, missionary doctors visited our church and challenged us to offer God what we had. I thought of my 14-year old Social Work degree that I never used, and prayed, “God, if You can use it, it’s Yours.” I was encouraged to “start knocking on some doors,” and as I began to pray, I didn’t sense the Lord’s leading to stay home this time, but to go. After a period of about two months of earnestly seeking the Lord and holding all of this before Him, He opened wide the door and lead me to the Tohono O’odham Nation where I’m currently working as a counselor and serving alongside of the church here.

What keeps you going back?

Jesus. It’s truly Him. I came here because of Him and I remain here because of Him. It’s His leading, His calling, His work, and His love for a people He longs to know Him. He puts that love in our hearts for the people He calls us to serve among. I know that it is Him that keeps me going and remaining…and I’m grateful!!

Greatest prayers:

  • To be a passionate witness of Christ along with everyone who names His name that those we are among see Him and call on His name.
  • For a genuine move of God’s presence over the Tohono O’odham Nation bringing transformation through Christ.

“Jesus gave His life, and in return, I give Him mine. He has extended the invitation to answer the call to His mission. My answer is yes.”
